Excellent piece! Mercury retrograde is a funny thing; it always brings the return of unfinished business, or resumes something put on hold in the past. No wonder you're echoing ancient battles of ruthless empire building; that's going on now ("the would be restoration of America's western hemisphere empire" and "the would be restoration of the russian empire" as we speak.)

When doing my research for my book on Mercury Retrograde years ago, I was astonished to find that those are periods when people who have escaped justice are busted, when crimes of the past are uncovered, when illegal corporate behavior is brought to light, and when we find out that something that's happened wasn't what it seemed, wasn't driven by what we thought, and isn't ending because of something we haven't been told.

These wars are truly unfinished business to push an ancient agenda which cannot be resolved, offered to the public through a cracked lens. They seek to return to a time which never was, asserting claims which are of foggy origin, which cannot be attained by the means they're using.

Thanks Robert! Fascinating research with Mercury Retrograde. That makes a lot of sense - I think even more so with Mercury in Pisces right now. Foggy origins indeed!

I was writing it 1995 through early 1997, pretty much before internet because everything was dial up. I did my research the hard way; in libraries where I looked at every significant event during Mercury retrograde periods going back almost a thousand years. Blew my mind how many events conformed to the concept of a retrograde!

Revisions in what the public are told, extreme weather anomalies, and wars are common during Mercury retrogrades, as is the exposure of things from the past. One such: 9000 gallons of PCB contaminated oil spilled into the St Lawrence River that wasn't discovered for a week. In 2004 California successfully sued Diebold voting machines for lying in the 2002 elections about their security.

Of course, on the other hand, a Mercury retrograde saw the reunification of east and west Germany and another one saw the Church of England vote to allow female priest(esses). I'd say a church allowing women to preside over services is truly the return a time long ago when gathering to worship featured both genders.

I had a bit of fun doing the research. Hooray for reference librarians, who are the greatest!

Ahhhhh those were the days! Quiet libraries and microfiche! And yes, reference librarians. I used to spend hours in libraries. I haven't been for years now...aside from visiting a historic one around the corner from where I live. I can only imagine how painstaking your research was to cover such a vast topic. The extreme weather anomalies catches my attention. That's a research project I want to save for a rainy day.

Oh and I just bought your book. I thought I had it somewhere but I can't see it so I bought it :-)

It's really interesting that Pluto conjunct South Node happens on St Patrick's Day. I don't know why but I associate that and the shamrock with luck with money

Thank you so much for all of this. I really appreciate your thorough analysis and exploration. It helps me to remember that as bleak as things are right now, the planets keep moving, and the only constant is change.

Thank you - writing about the astrology helps me too. It's very easy to get overwhelmed by such difficult news these days.
