The solar eclipse occurs at 10:57 (UT) on March 29, 2025. The Moon and Sun will be at 09ARI00. This is the last of the eclipses in Aries for this cycle and therefore there is a sense that we have reached a conclusion that results in an important new path for our soul’s destiny. I made a full exploration of the chart in my podcast for this lunation (below) but I also wanted to discuss another element of the eclipse that we don’t often talk about so much. It’s a subject close to my heart as I’m writing a book about it – namely Saros Seeds: Exploring the Roots of Eclipses.

Because every eclipse is rooted in a family of eclipses and when we study these families, we begin to appreciate how evolution takes place across ages and how we are looking at it all through just one tiny window in time. By looking at the very first chart in the sequence, we can get an idea of what the seed potential is and how things might develop over time. Just like an acorn doesn’t look like an oak tree though, we might not fully appreciate the final story whilst the chapters are still being written.

This solar eclipse in March 2025 belongs to the family of eclipses named saros 149. This family of eclipses was born on August 21, 1664 and the final eclipse of this series will take place on September 28, 2926. The eclipse we are just arriving at now is number 21 out of a series of 71, so we aren’t even halfway through this long and winding story yet.

So, let’s explore the seed chart for this entire family of eclipses to get a feel for the over-arching stories in development. Here is an image of the Saros seed chart for Saros 149.

What immediately leaps to my attention is the huge emphasis on the sign of Leo. This is the sign of kings, real and imaginary, theatre folk, those who shine bright on this stage called life. Leo is the sign of creation and creativity. With the Moon and Sun conjunct Mercury and Venus, it seems this is a talking point. We're talking about who has the attention and why - how much is too much, how much is not enough? Maybe over the ages, this is a story of those who are kings, those who would be king, those who are put under the spotlight and the part they play. I note that King Charles just had to miss events due to a problem with his cancer treatment. This upcoming eclipse is conjunct his MC (four degrees away) indicating the eclipse effects his public image. The King and the land are intertwined. When the King is sick, the land is sick.

And maybe this Saros series of eclipses speaks about the part we all play in life, the responsibilities we have (this lunation is trine Saturn) and how empowered we feel (this eclipse is sextile Pluto). Perhaps too there are discussions about what we are creating, positively or negatively. An out-of-sign conjunction to asteroid Astraea also catches my eye as she is the Goddess associated with spiritual justice and it is said that when Astraea returns, she will return us to a golden age. I find myself also thinking of solar power, children and childhood. With Hygeia (hygeine/health) close to the North Node of the seed chart, it seems that it's pointing towards the need to take preventative action for future generations.

Emphasising the point is asteroid Deucalion conjunct the Moon. It was Deucalion and his wife who repopulated the world after the great flood - Zeus flooded the world because he was angry with human hubris. Deucalion can be associated with starting again, a clean slate, renewal (and perhaps renewable energies).

I note that Bernadette Brady speaks of this particular series of eclipses as 'very physically expressive. Accidents, great physical effort, violence or any sudden physical events.' Page 320, Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and The Lark by Bernadette Brady. As I write, there has just been a huge earthquake in Myanmar.

Certainly, it is beyond the scope of this piece (and my abilities!) to predict what things may come by the time this family of eclipses ends. The year 2926 feels impossibly far away and yet briefly it is curiously close as we come to this next eclipse on this timeline...And perhaps this is it exactly, a little nudge from Spirit, a whisper in my ear. Maybe these events, these eclipses, are the glue that hold together these timelines, or the grease that oils the gears as we switch timelines. Maybe as we head towards the year 3000, we will no longer be entirely human, jacked up by technology, solar powered. Perhaps by then we will seem like shining Gods to our present day minds, untouchable, unreachable, unfathomable. I imagine our world will be very different, just like our present reality differs vastly from the Middle Ages.

And yet even as we cast our eyes back in time, we see that often, the human story is the same - the stories of love and loss, battles and illness, triumphs and successes, the little soul who made it. These are heroes’ tales. This upcoming Aries eclipse will strongly lean into this archetype, the archetype of the hero, the warrior, the soldier, the little one who could. My feeling is that right now, the leaders we choose, the people whom we follow, have an ability to increase the light or turn up the heat. In our own lives, it's about choosing to follow the light within, to ensure we leave the world a better place than we found it. Watch what happens around this eclipse and remember there are bigger stories playing out across vast chunks of time. Restoration, renewal, the blessed ability to make every day a new start. Somehow these are the stories encoded into every eclipse on the Saros 149 line.
