Can you feel it? The intensity of Pluto on the anaretic degree of Capricorn? We’re seeing so many stories beginning to align now. The old guard must fall. The new one must step up. In the media, headline after headline reflects this concerted push towards transformation as previous high-profile characters find their reputation in tatters. Top paid BBC newsreader Huw Edwards had his day in court, with his tendencies laid bare for all to see. P Diddy has been hauled up on charges, finally. And now another huge breaking story in the UK points accusingly at Mohammad Al Fayed, whose son died alongside Princess Diana. One by one, those that sought to abuse their power and status are beginning to fall. Pluto in Capricorn will lay the bones bare.
Now that we are in eclipse season, we know that we can be blind-sided by unexpected events. I was taken aback to receive a lovely email from a second cousin who subsequently sent me a photo of myself as a child that I had never seen before. Such an interesting manifestation! As Pluto continues to square my Sun, here was an invitation to literally see myself in a new light!
But, in the world, the manifestations are more challenging. Around the Pisces lunar eclipse, Europe was taken aback by the intensity and duration of Storm Boris which caused terrible flooding and loss of life across many central European countries. One of the common meanings of Boris is ‘wolf’. It certainly seems as though we’re being flooded with stories about wolves in sheep’s clothing! But Wolf too is connected to the Moon, a hunter by night, a creature of the shadows and deepest instincts. Wolf as spiritual guide tells us that for our pack to function, we need to communicate. We need well understood societal structures, an understanding of how each member, young, old, healthy, infirm, has not only a place but a role. Wolves are also fiercely loyal, teaching us too about what it is to trust, to have someone’s back, to know that we can rely on one another. What might it take for us to feel like this, in our societies and communities?
With the Moon and Sun of the Pisces eclipse squaring Jupiter in Gemini, Israel (assumed) exacted vengeance on Hezbollah in Lebanon by exploding first pagers and then walkie talkies, causing thousands of injuries and many deaths. Gemini is the sign we associate with communication and that would include communication devices. It’s a concerning escalation. Eclipses are not the best time to escalate anything because some factors are hidden. And with Jupiter squaring the lights, there is something off about the big picture in this scenario.
On another note, I also spotted an extraordinary story that seems to foreshadow possibilities for Pluto in Aquarius going forwards. This long piece by the BBC discusses the possibility of the rise ‘startup societies’ born from the vision of tech companies to unite people under a corporate banner, instead of a government. The concept is both frightening and fascinating and, crucially, already in motion. I said in the past that Pluto in Aquarius will be about changing society, what we think of as society and how it may well change the political systems we have currently. We also know from the symbolism of Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus moving into Gemini in the next few years, that there will be extraordinary leaps in technological development. Revolutionary ideas are incoming.
Finally in this little news round-up, there are rumblings in the astronomy world that there is a second group of Kuiper belt objects, possibly eleven of them. Just as a reminder, the current Kuiper Belt includes bodies like Pluto, Makemake and Haumea. As new bodies are discovered and named, we welcome new archetypes, new teachers who bubble up from the cosmic mind at the appointed time. The further into space we look, the deeper into ourselves we travel. The telescope that found these latest objects is called Subaru – Japanese for ‘unite.’

What unnamed facets are tickling at the edge of consciousness, nudging for recognition?
