We’re moving into eclipse season this coming week. I will write more about that shortly. We are also changing to the next astronomical season too as the Sun shifts from Virgo to Libra, finally weighing the wheat cut from the fields during Virgo’s time. Now we are at Autumn equinox in the Northern hemisphere. The North turns to autumn, the South to spring, day and night are equal. Light and dark are equal. Inside and outside, up and down, all dualities meet in the middle, in the space where there is only oneness and absolute poise.
There is a stillness I love about Mabon, the Pagan festival that celebrates autumn equinox. A few nights ago, we had an early first frost, not quite reaching into the city but tipping the nose of the outskirts. Jack Frost, stretching himself awake, huffing a steamy breath, painting the windows with his crooked fingers. There have been peachy sunrises and intense sunsets. I’m like a child at Christmas, only my ‘present’ is misty mornings, perfect for wannabe photographers like me. Not to mention maple leaves drifting along the canal, boats chugging wood smoke, the quiet. Oh, the quiet as everyone and everything begins to draw in. Orange, the colour we most associate with autumn is connected with the sacral chakra. It interests me that this time of dying, so to speak, is simultaneously a time of deep womb-like nurturing, a fertile inner growing as the land bares its soul.
Libra ingress chart
The ingress chart for Libra can be used to deduce what the next quarter might be like, both collectively and personally. The personal themes arise from how the ingress chart relates to your own personal chart. For the purposes of this piece, I will explore the collective themes at play.
Firstly, it’s important to note that whilst now dissociated, the Sun is still in an opposition to Neptune, so things are still a little murky to say the least. It’s hard to discern what is real and what isn’t. Dreams and wishes hang in the air, undulating under the weight of despair – or vague hope. The Moon in Gemini wants to figure out logically what is fiction or fact. Unnerved by Uranus nearby, we feel an urgency to solve the problem with Pallas opposing Luna.
Pluto at 29 Capricorn is a foghorn in the mists, drawing us deeper into the dark. I have no idea where I’m going, we might often say during this time. And yet, like a swallow who knows which way to fly, we too find ourselves magnetically pulled to our own true north. The solar connection to the South Node means however, that we’re staring into the face of the past at the same time, slowly moving towards a major letting go, history falling into place. All’s fair and square, finally.
Asteroid Hekate conjunct the Sun in the ingress chart reminds us that we are at crossroads. We meet her at the boundaries, the in-between places. My eyes flick up to anaretic Pluto, which, by the way, is still trine to the Sun in Libra even if dissociated. That word again, dissociation. Perhaps this is the problem right now – that we as a collective are dissociated from our shadows (Pluto), split off from what is sacred (Neptune), polarised into this group or that group (Moon in Gemini). But Hekate invites a sacred stillness, a deep centring that comes from self-trust. When you tune in and find your balance, you can be at ease with yourself and with others. Allies are everywhere.
